Received two calls from this number 9/10/21. Caller said she was responding to an inquiry I'd started through my U.S. Congressman's office a few weeks back. On the second voicemail, caller said I'd receive a letter in 7-10 days with an update on the issue. All the info she left in the voicemail was legit, so I don't think this is a spam call. Also, hey didn't leave a callback number, which is typical of IRS.

I ALSO RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER. I KNEW THE IRS WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL. HE GAVE ME ALL THE INFORMATION THAT WAS RECQUIRED TO PROVE THAT THIS WAS A LEGAL CALL. HE COMPLETELY ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS. AND PROBLEM WAS SOLVED.

Received call from this number and was leery at first but when the caller started explaining who he was and where he was and he referenced my exact tax situation complete with reference to my latest communication to the IRS and who my letter was directed to I felt secure in discussing my situation with him. I asked him to give me the last 4 digits of my social security number which he did without hesitating. He also referenced my other communications in detail which a scammer would not be able to do. I spent half an hour discussing my problem and made some suggestions as to how the IRS could better handle matters when they send refund checks out. Just add one line to the check -- "Explanation letter to follow”. IRS supervisors feel that is not necessary because everybody should automatically know if they are supposed to get a refund check. Supervisor's think the IRS does not make mistakes.
